Book Formatting Terms and Conditions

Thank you for choosing me to help you format your book! I’m excited to help you get your book ready for the world to see!

After making contact about formatting your book, you will be sent the link to a Google Form that asks for pertinent information about your book and what is contained therein. It’s imperative that you make sure you are at the point that you are ready to have your book formatted when you fill this out so that there are no delays getting your book to you.

I use Vellum to format, which allows me to do basic formatting. If you are wanting something a little fancier or are very specific about how certain things display, I suggest looking into someone that formats with InDesign as they have more control over certain aspects of the formatting process.

Upon receipt of the form, I will invoice you from PayPal for the price of your formatting. Unless we have worked it out ahead of time, it will be due upon receipt, at which point I will start the work.

Turn around:

In most cases, you will have initial proof copies (a pdf in most cases) within 24 hours. If I see that is not possible, I will inform you of that fact and give you an estimate of when you can expect that initial proof.

Final File Delivery:

Once formatting is complete, I will share a link to a Google Drive folder that will include your formatted files. If any additional revisions are made after final delivery, the files in this folder will be updated.

My pricing is as follows:


Ebook only: $30 (you’ll receive mobi and ePub files)

Ebook + Paperback: $50 (you’ll receive mobi, ePub, and pdf files)

The cost of the formatting covers the initial formatting plus three revisions to your file before final files are delivered. Any additional revisions will incur a fee dependent upon what you’re requesting I do.

File requirements:

-Your Manuscript should be in .doc or .docx format. I do not accept PDF files for formatting.

-You will need to include a high-quality jpeg of your ebook cover (I do not need the paperback wrap)

Additional comments:

-I can insert custom chapter headings in the book. If you want that, you will need to provide a png file for me. I suggest doing 500×500 pixels.

-I can insert custom ornamental breaks in the books. If you want that, you will need to provide a png file for me.

-If you want custom chapter headings or ornamental breaks, but don’t want to create yourself, I can create one for you for a $10 fee. I utilize Canva for this.

The Details

By filling out the intake form and paying A.M. Williams via PayPal, you, the customer, acknowledge that we have entered a contract for formatting work to be complete. I will abide by what has been outlined above. If anything changes with anything outlined here, I, A.M. Williams, will reach out to the customer with that information ASAP. The customer is to reach out to A.M. Williams if anything changes on their end as well.

Included in the formatting fee is the initial formatting plus three revision requests. Requests are not used when it is something that A.M. Williams has a specific question about, i.e. when checking that something visually looks right to the customer or something similar. Revisions are used when the customer requests specific changes be made such as style, placement of elements, and inclusion of additional wording. Once the third revision has been complete, unless otherwise agreed upon, final files will be delivered to the customer in a shared Google Drive folder.

Once final files have been delivered to the customer, any additional changes will incur an additional fee on top of what was originally paid by the customer for the formatting. This fee starts at $5 and is dependent upon what changes the customer is requesting. The fee will go up depending on what changes are being made based upon the time that it will take to complete those changes and how in-depth they are.

By submitting their completed manuscript to A.M. Williams, the customer agrees that it is complete and edited. Documents are to be fully edited and the final copy, not one that will be completed later. If the customer sends a file that is incomplete, A.M. Williams will reach out to the customer to inform them that formatting will not take place until a final file is provided. This does not count against the three revisions that are included in the formatting fee unless it is a continuing problem.

Because of the nature of this work, I do not offer refunds except on a case-by-case basis. If final files have been delivered or work has already started on your formatting, I do not offer refunds because of the time that has already been used to complete your files. Partial refunds will only be offered before final files are delivered to the customers and on a case-by-case basis.
